Hailing from Italy’s green heart of Abruzzi, cinematic garage desert rockers TURBOMATT have waged psychedelic peace on the world with their tales of astro escapes, red wine dreams and melancholic landscapes since 2007.
Three-stringed guitar, two-stringed low bass & evil drums for a primitive and distorted experience, the birth of a new soundtrack to a visionary film, standing in a desert looking for a remarkable emotional reach. TURBOMATT’s psych instrumental garage boogie rock'n'roll sweet ruckus brings the relentless spirit of the genre’s pioneers like Pink Floyd, Velvet Underground and Funkadelic into modern age colossus (Sonic Youth, Yawning Man, Colour Haze) with super slick, robotic & desert feelings, minimalistic approach and loud production and a foundation-leveling sonic beating.
Formed by Turbo Ex on guitars, Turbo Fra on bass and Turbo Mark on drums, the band debuted in 2009 with a 50-run CD pressing of Turbomatt and in 2010 returned with the acclaimed self-produced Own Demon. Recorded, mixed and mastered at StatoStudio by Ivan D’Antonio, Soul Elevation is their third opus. The album will be out October 20th by ExLab Records (ELR 01), will be released as a hand-made CD and ltd edition vinyl (200 copies).
Soul Elevation is a journey deep into ancient roots, proto-punk and blues vibes, surf and lysergic early hard rock spirit. TURBOMATT are able to lend their own art and their inspiration to several “means”, from Ennio Morricone to Massive Attack, from contemporary classic music to imagination, humour, melodies and chords.
